Asymptotes and holes make up an equation where when it gets graphed, the line gets close to a specific line but doesn't actually touches it. With that, a vertical asymptote occurs when the denominator of a fraction equals zero. On the other hand, holes are pieces of the equation that are the same on the top and bottom of the fraction, therefore they cancel each other out. When graphed, this creates a gap in the line.

Using a calculator gives you an estimate while using the method shown above gives you an exact answer. An inverse function is a function that reverses another function. To find the inverse of a function, there is three easy steps to follow. First, you have to treat "f(x)" as a "y." Following that, replace all x's with y's, and all y's with x's. The final step is to just simply solve for y. In order to verify that you solved the problem correctly, getting the inverse function, you can graph both the function you started with and the function you ended up with. If they show to be the opposite of eachother, then you got the correct answer.
On the other hand though, sometimes the inverse of a function isn't always a function. Does Xy * Xz equal Xyz sometimes, never, or always? The answer is it only is equivalent to Xyz sometimes. For example when the exponents both are two. If you were to multiply 2 by 2, you would get 4. If you were to add them, you would also get 4.
In the equation x3+3x2-54x, there are a few main steps to follow to factor it. To start, you subtract one from each exponent, leaving it
x2+3x-54x. After, you change the equation into the form where you can FOIL it. You would have (x+9)(x-6). You then set each equation equal to zero, so you would not have x+9=0 and x-6=0, then solve. You would get the answer of x=-9 and x=6. Factoring and solving are similar because you have to use factoring to solve. When you add a positive number to the equation after the function, the "V" (where both lines meet and stop) would begin on the positive number given on the y-axis, and same for when you subtract a number from the equation after the function. The "V" would start on the y-axis on that negative number that was given. When you add a positive number to X before performing the equation, the "V" would start on the negative value of the positive number on the x-axis, and one of the lines of the 'V" would pass through that positive number given on the y-axis. Like before, about the same thing would happen if you were to subtract a number from X before performing the equation. The point of the "V" would start on the positive value of the negative number given on the x-axis, and one side of the "V" would pass through the positive value of it on the y-axis. In order to convert inches into centimeters you would use the equation y=2.54x. In this equation, y represents centimeters, while x represents inches.
In the graph, it visually shows the equation y=2.54x. Each point plotted displays you rising up 2.54 and over one to the right since its slope is positive. To calculate the number of centimeters in a foot you would use the equation y=2.54(12). To solve you would multiply 2.54 and 12 and get the answer that y=30.48. |
