Asymptotes and holes make up an equation where when it gets graphed, the line gets close to a specific line but doesn't actually touches it. With that, a vertical asymptote occurs when the denominator of a fraction equals zero. On the other hand, holes are pieces of the equation that are the same on the top and bottom of the fraction, therefore they cancel each other out. When graphed, this creates a gap in the line.
